If there were such a thing as an acupuncture addict, I’d probably qualify. I get regular acupuncture sessions back in the U.S.—sometimes for stress, sometimes for specific issues, and sometimes just to relax. While in Vietnam, I always look for local acupuncture through trusted referrals. A good friend of mine—who I affectionately call the “Mayor of Cần Giờ” because she knows everyone—recommended this place. And she didn’t steer me wrong. There’s definitely a language barrier, but nothing Google Translate can’t fix. I came in with a sharp pain in my left foot. The wife administered acupuncture, while the husband and another associate provided massage therapy. Between the combination of needling and massage, they worked the pain out within two sessions. They also use electro-stimulation both with the needles and during the foot massage. It was incredibly effective—I felt amazing afterward. The cost is a fraction of what I’d pay in the U.S., and to be honest, they’re able to do a lot more here than what’s legally allowed by U.S. practitioners. It’s a totally different (and better) experience. Bonus: they’re relatively close to the Vũng Tàu ferry, so you could even squeeze in a quick acupuncture/massage session while waiting to board. Definitely recommend. Tell them the fat American sent you. 😄
